Senior Pastor

Barry Klassen

Pastor Barry began his role at Crossfield Baptist Church in May 2022. Previously, Barry has served for four years as a Youth Pastor at Melfort Evangelical Covenant Church and fifteen years as Lead Pastor at the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and General Studies and Master of Arts in Theological Studies at Briercrest College and Seminary and his Masters in Christian Leadership through CREST Leadership.

“One of my greatest joys in ministry is that I love preaching God’s Word. It is not just its proclamation that I love, but its transformative effect on us all through the Holy Spirit. I love seeing people grow and flourish in their faith! It is such a joy to walk with God and His family and to see how His kingdom is being encouraged and realized in a world that is lost and has forgotten that they are loved by God. I seek to be authentic and Spirit-led as I follow Jesus while inviting others to join me on an incredible adventure of living out God’s love in the beautiful and delightful community of Crossfield.”

Barry is married to Jen and they have four children, Noah, Judah, Levi and Naomi. He was born and raised in Swift Current, cheers for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, loves coffee and cinnamon buns, dabbles with a bass guitar and is a self-proclaimed sci-fi nerd.

Family Ministry Leader

Larissa Making

Larissa was born and raised in Crossfield, has been married to Ken for 12 years, and they have two boys, Tyson and Rylan. Larissa originally attended Crossfield Baptist from 1996-2009 and returned in 2023. After graduation, she moved to Jamaica to complete her Discipleship Training Program with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Upon returning, she became the director for several out-of-school programs, where her passion for working with children and youth quickly grew.

While serving on an overseas mission, I was impacted by a shirt a staff member was wearing with the verse “Love Them Anyways” (Luke 23:34). I didn’t realize how much that verse would guide my future and I still love to refer back to it. Sometimes we just don't see eye to eye with some people in our lives. Showing them love can be challenging, especially when these people are difficult. But learning to love them anyway is a step closer to understanding the kind of love God has for us. For me, working with children and youth is a chance for me to ‘Love Them Anyway’, regardless of the path in life they are walking.

In her free time, Larissa enjoys spending time with my family at the lake on the boat and daydreaming about the beach and palm trees.

Administrator

Yvonne Paulson

Yvonne resides in Crossfield with her husband Chad. They have 3 adult children and 3 fantastic married into the family children and one grandchild and many grand puppies. Yvonne and her family began attending Crossfield Baptist Church in 1998, and in the December of 2008, she came on staff as the Administrative Secretary. What she loves best about her role as the Administrative Secretary is getting to know people from both the church and community because of the many ministries the church has going on during the week. When not working at the church Yvonne loves to spend time doing just about anything with her family and friends.
